It most likely means that the image you tried to upload is larger than 350 kb.

How to keep image resolution as low as possible.

Use an image manipulation program such as Photoshop or the freeware equivalent GIMP.

Make scans with a 300 dpi resolution for single postage stamps and 150 dpi for collections of postage stamps or covers.

Crop the images as close as possible and save the final image to your harddisk with a quality of 70%.
