Forest of “Sea Lavender” on Dongjiyu (NT$ 8): Thanks to the clarity of the water and sufficiency of the sunshine, the sea in South Penghu Marine National Park is a paradise for the growth of coral reefs. The stunning beauty of beds of Acropora gemmifera coral on Dongjiyu is like a forest of lavender in the sea. The Giant Triton mollusk is the bane of the coral’s deadly enemy, the Crown-of-Thorns Starfish. The mollusk protects the coral from being eaten by the starfish.
