VILLA CACCIA

(in Slovene Kačja Vas)

Extremely rare Italian auxiliary post stamp of „Villa Caccia“ used during WWII.

Kacja Vas was a part of a smaller town called „Planina pri Rakeku“. After WWI the village was split, and it was actually a border site between Italy and Yugoslavia. The village was famous for a couple of days, when Italy's leader Benito Mussolini met with Yugoslav prime minister Stojadinovic there, shortly before WWII. Perhaps that is the reason why there was a site for a small Auxiliary post.

Part of the settlement called „Kacja Vas“ went to Italy. The whole settlement had only 35 houses and a population of about 80 people.

That is why the stamp „Villa Caccia“ is today extremely rare.
