FABULOUS UNFINISHED PENNY RED PROJECT. 1854-63 SPECIALISTS USED PENNY RED COLLECTION presented on stock pages in a Great Britain "Stanley Gibbons" 4 ring binder. An unfinished project with an attractive assembly of choice one penny red "Star" perforated issues, many with original auction purchase cards or identification notes, many identified by plate or varieties including some with Certificates. We see a wealth of single issues, mostly Specialist type (1856-63) C8, C9 & C10 that includes pairs, blocks of 4 & 6, strips, "on piece" items with postmark interest including coloured postmarks, teh occasional 1855 C4 (P16, small Crown), 1855 C5 (P16 lge Crown) & 1855 C6 (P14 large Crown) plus different Die types, watermark variants, a plethora of identified major & minor re-entries, alphabet types, minor constant flaw varieties, shades & more. For a flavour, 1861 small piece bearing a very fine strip of 3 x Die II rose red plate 50 with alphabet IV check letters "D-C / D-E, adjoining plate 16 alphabet II lettered M-C, all tied to piece by "534" Morton - in - Marsh numeral strike, a scarce combination piece, 1857 1d rose red (Plate 42) Large Crown Wmk, Die II (SG 40) block of 6 (SD SE SF TD TE TF) cancelled "546" Newcastle under Lyme, TD in state 2 with thinner check letters, a plate 17 Die II (SG 40) unused check letters K-I and showing the distinctive "Semi Gothic K", 1856 1d red brown Die II plate 33 (SG 29) lettered I -E cancelled by a superb "805" of Torquay in blue, 1855 1d red brown Die II plate 34 (SG 29) letters D-F "on piece" tied by Devonport sideways duplex showing a large smudge below NE square, a fine example of this constant variety, 1857 1d rose red (SG 40) vertical pair lightly cancelled by blue circular handstamps, an 1857 red-orange (scarce shade) "on piece" tied by neat Shrewsbury Spoon duplex, an 1856 (SG 29) used pair with neat upright central strike of the early Dublin Diamond Duplex, an 1858 (SG 40) letters T-A on small piece showing "Scratch through base of Y (of penny) & A square", broken pin perf examples, pages of yet to identify issues and much much more.
