1822 (5 Jan): Entire letter written 5th January passed through Calcutta on the 25th and was carried by the ship "Fairlie" to Southampton and at least to London, with "CALCUTTA/GENERAL POST OFFICE/(Jan)/18(22)/(25)" triply circled datestamps and add. in m/s, boxed "INDIA LETTER/SOUTHAMPTON" and on the reverse with London 'July 22nd' arrival datestamps. The letter was in transit for 198 days, and the recipient was charged 4d sea and 9d inland postage. (A typescript of contents is attached.)
Value Add Taxes (19%) will be added to the hammer price and the buyers premium.

In april 2005 the idea to build a place where collectors, customers and investors from all over the world could meet, was realized.
Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
Generous viewing and storage rooms, a private auction hall, enough parking space and an underground car park are available.
