Die wertvollste moderne Briefmarke der Welt

2001. Die Wohlfahrtsmarke "Audrey Hepburn" gilt als die bekannteste und wertvollste moderne Briefmarke der Welt. Bereits früh als die „Blaue Mauritius Deutschlands“ bezeichnet, erlangte die Briefmarke mit dem Portrait der Hollywoodschönheit Audrey Hepburn Berühmtheit durch ein Veto der Erben. Im Jahr 2001 sollte die Briefmarke mit dem Motiv aus dem Filmklassiker „Frühstück bei Tiffany“ verausgabt werden. Es waren schon mehrere Millionen Exemplare gedruckt, als die Söhne der Schauspielerin ihre Zustimmung verweigerten. Anstoß fanden sie an der Zigarettenspitze, die Audrey Hepburn auf dem Bild im Mund hält. Dieses gesundheitsschädliche Verhalten wollten die Söhne nicht auf einer Briefmarke verewigt sehen – mit besonderem Verweis auf den Lungenkrebstod ihrer Mutter. So mussten 14 Millionen Marken vernichtet und bereits verschickte Testdruckbögen zurückgefordert werden. Allein drei Zehnerbögen, die an das Finanzministerium gingen, kamen nicht zurück.

Die wohl Schönste der bisher bekannten Audrey Hepburn Briefmarken ist dieses Exemplar, das einzige bekannte GESTEMPELTE ECKRANDSTÜCK. Die Marke auf Briefstück wurde mit dem Tagesstempel aus Kleinmachnow 1 (PLZ 14532) vom 11. Februar 2004, 18 Uhr, übergehend entwertet und ist in einwandfreier, tadelloser Erhaltung. Christoph Gärtner made his hobby into his profession. He started in 1984 and within two decades the Gärtner GmbH developed into a world leading mail order house for postal stationery and became a specialist for thematics and postal history.
In april 2005 the idea to build a place where collectors, customers and investors from all over the world could meet, was realized.
Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
Generous viewing and storage rooms, a private auction hall, enough parking space and an underground car park are available.
