Récit autographe original dactylographié sur 21 feuillets (21 x 27 cm -- sur un côté )
par l' Aumônier Capitaine Gombert du bataillon DR6 français ( deuxième bataillon envoyé en Corée )
L' Aumonier Capitaine Gombert narre au cours d' une dizaine de lettres envoyées en France à des Amis
Ces lettres sont datées du 15 décembre 1951 au 31 octobre 1952
Le récit démarre par une première lettre écrite au large des côtes de l' indochine où l' auteur décrit son voyage à bord du Skaugum puis du Sontay
-- parti de Marseille , c'est après être passé dans les ports d' Alger et Port Saïd qu' il arrivera au Japon à Yokohama pour rejoindre le camp Drake près de Tokyo.
Il rejoindra ensuite avec son bataillon la Corée : tout d' abord la région de Kumhwa au Nord Est de Séoul puis la Vallée du Pukhang Gang près de Kapiong à la hauteur de Séoul vers Chorwon.
Ces écrits relatent du conflit opposant la coalition franco américaine aux troupes chinoises
comme le montrent les extraits scannés ce récit vous plongera dans le quotidien du bataillon -- de l' anecdote aux faits les plus marquants
--- rencontre avec des généraux Américains Young et Boetner , Mgr Larribeau des Missions Etrangères de Paris stationné à Taejon --
Cette année 1952 de l' Aumônier Capitaine Gombert dans l' "enfer de Corée"(dixit) constitue un témoignage exceptionnel d' un fait historique.
Aux prises et aux batailles des Pitons ( Mont Chauve , cote 281 "le fer de lance", cote 395 "le cheval blanc" ) se mêlent la dure vie des Hommes sur le front dans les blockaus , la vie et distractions du camp , les confrontations militaires dues à la proximité de la ligne de front ( parfois quelques dizaines de mètres) et des opérations d' ampleur qui marqueront à jamais les rescapés parmi les 500 hommes du bataillon ("opération Silence" , et déluge de 5000 obus chinois en une seule journée en Octobre)
