- Les "Despatches" de Douglas Haig sont l'un des rapports les plus importants pour comprendre les opérations militaires britanniques sur le front occidental. Au total, huit "dépêches" ont été publiées, dans lesquelles Haig expliquait ses décisions, parfois controversées. Lorsque les "Despatches" originaux ont été compilés en 1919, un certain nombre de passages ont été supprimés par le gouvernement, par exemple sur la bataille de Passchendaele où Haig était trop critique envers Lloyd George, mais aussi sur les grandes pénuries du printemps 1918. Dans l'édition de 1979, ces passages ont été à nouveau insérés. J.H. Boraston, son secrétaire personnel, s'est chargé de l'édition.
