Eerst de opmars naar Gent en de strijd om Melle (p. 1-41), daarna de aftocht en de slag aan de IJzer waarin ze een beslissende rol speelden o.m. bij Beerst, rond het kasteel van Woumen en bij Diksmuide zelf.
