S. S. Imperator, Hamburg American Line. Largest in the World. 50,000 Tons -- 900 Feet Long. Used (postmarked New York City July 3, 1913); Divided Back. Published by Success Postal Card Co., NYC, No. 1038. The Imperator's maiden voyage was 20 June 1913 from Cuxhaven to New York. On 5 May1919 she was seized by US navy for use as a troup transporter. In 1921 she was sold to Cunard Line and renamed "Berengaria." On 3 March 1938 the ship caught fire in New York harbor and in November she was sold for scrap. Corner wear; top and bottom right corners slightly creased; postmark residue on front. Card is in an archival plastic protective sleeve; will ship in a sturdy rigid EZ open mailer.
